The Palace at the World Heritage city of Polonnaruwa was (apparently) a humungous building. According to archaeological evidence the building was seven stories high, but only the remnants of two stories now remain. The building also included a two story penthouse for the King, intricate painting and woodwork, and numerous quarters for the kings guards. The massive scale of the two remaining floors (as compared with the people in the picture) show how truly massive the building must have been.
